Chef Martin Hoellrigl’s insatiable curiosity for food and hospitality led him to acquire a degree in tourism management, a chef apprenticeship, a sommelier and vintner diploma, and several hospitality certificates from Cornell University. Undoubtedly, Chef Martin’s passion for food and connectedness makes him meticulously skilled at his craft and dedicated to creating unforgettable moments around the table.

Chef Martin’s experience in the hotel and hospitality world enabled him to develop the flair and creativity for which he is known. Before the formation of Capitola Garden Feast in 2017, Chef Martin worked with some of the most respected hospitality leaders in the world, earning him an array of accomplishments and awards.

At the Palace Hôtel Bristol Paris, which Michelin Guide awarded as Best Hotel In The World and Best Hotel Restaurant In The World, Chef Martin had the honor of cooking meals for Pope John Paul II and Tonino Lamborghini.

The Los Angeles Times wrote about Chef Martin’s “flair and artistry,” and even Julia Child praised his creativity during Chef Martin’s time at the Surf and Sand Resort & Spa in Laguna Beach and its food and beverage venues in Southern California.

Under Chef Martin’s leadership, the majestic Baroque Palais Daun Kinsky in Vienna was awarded Restaurant of the Year by Vienna Lifestyle Magazine. Additionally, he was awarded Chef of the Year for his trendsetting creativity.

After his management apprenticeship at the Salomon Rothschild Hotel near Vienna, Austrian Tourism Funds hired Chef Martin as the Hotel Pre-Opening Manager for the brand-new Balance Resort Stegersbach in Austria. Here, his leadership was essential in planning, opening, and managing the luxury retreat, which is now a multi-million dollar resort that has achieved numerous awards, including Restaurant of the Year, Hotel of the Year, the 4 Lillies SPA Award, and Most Woman-Friendly Business in Austria! Later, Chef Martin’s cigar lounge was awarded a selection of exclusive Cuban cigars.

Throughout his extensive hotel career, Chef Martin’s also achieved accolades while working at Hilton Kuwait Resort, Hilton Waterfalls Resort in Egypt, Gallery One Hotel in South Florida, and Hotel De Anza in Silicon Valley as the Hotel General Manager.

Utilizing his vintner education, Chef Martin worked at Byington Vineyard and Winery in Santa Cruz as General Manager and helped the winery achieve 68 awards, including two double gold medals from the San Francisco Chronicle.
